Getting on the boat from our hostel in Puerto Rico was hilarious... we bused into town to find out you can't get to the ship from this side of town, thought it was a mere short walk from where we were, walked for EVER, then it started pouring... we ducked into a bus stop and hailed a taxi. Then we're there, in line "ready to board cap'n!" Oh, wait, we're trying to get on the wrong cruise ship? HA! We finally make it to our destination. . . The Brilliance of the Sea.
We are escorted to our room, then head straight for the buffet! And though there were other "complimentary" eating options, we typically ate here for at least 3 meals. =)
Yummy food of different types (sandwich-makings, soup, salads, pizza, burgers, meat n potatoes, pasta, Indian, fruit, desserts, etc.). The best part was watching Wren at his favorite place on the boat...in front of the soft-serve ice cream machine!
Next, we hit the pool (shown here is one of two, plus a kiddie slide with pool)!
On to the mandatory safety drill, then we watched us set sail! We went to dinner (one of 3 times) to the "fancy" dining hall where we met three of our assigned table guests Lisa, Kenny and Gerome. After dinner we watched our first show on the boat that included acrobats Donovan and Rebecca.
The theater was just gorgeous, and the entire show (which included the Brilliance of the Sea's singers, dancers, and orchestra) was so professional and entertaining! We were so happily surprised by everything! Hooray for travel, and adventure!

Puerto Rico
And We´re off! Leaving the cold, windy city of Anacortes via public transit to Seattle. Then two nights in Puerto Rico, then our much awaited trans-Atlantic cruise!
A sleepless redeye from Seattle,
And then we are there! And its hot...like 90. And thats awesome. We walked a bit ate lunch rice n bean then bussed back to Miramar and checked into our hostel... The Palace Hostle.A quick nap and dinner at Papa Johns (where, somehow, Wren had never been!). We walked to the beach n on the was stopped at a lake and saw this iguana!
We also saw this hilarious sign at a park... tee hee!
Here was a fun fountain next to the gorgeous beach.
At the beach we made a splash and then a stinky sphinx foot castle.
Here is our favorite eatery, a place called Vagon. The owner, Victor, was super awesome and gave us these two drinks while we waited... then two more! And Since Wren doesn´t drink... well, someone had to!
These were our favorite gender-distinguishing bathroom signs.
We also ate frosties, saw Pelicans, read a bunch...
juggled,
and found geo-caches!... guess who found them?
At our hostle (number 666!) we met a nice fella named Greg who we bussed into town with the next day. All in all, this trip is starting out GREAT!
