50 Shades Performance workshop

So this was my first attempt at a physical theater "performance workshop". It was super fun, people were always coming up with new ideas for their own and others' work. We did some big group pieces, (like this picture) then mostly duo and solo.
One of my favorite warm-ups is a laughing exercise I did in David MacMurray's Baby Clown class. It helps loosen up your diaphram and body for better access to personal improvization and impulse.
We typically lay separately, but today, this spontaneously happened!
Another group exercise I've enjoyed (in the Devising Intensive with Davis Robinson and Karen Montanaro) called "Amoeba".
Sometimes you can give a group a word, and see where the shape goes, or to music, or with nothing. It's nice to have one group watch, or name/describe what they see or feel from the Amoeba groups shape.
I have been fortunate enough to have enough interest in the class that the numbers work out great for the exercises I want to do (between the 3 classes I've taught, there have been a minimum of 8 - when a few people miss class - and 15!), and for folks in the class to have a good size audience to perform for. Here's an example of how breaks are takes... so close together! Cuuuute!
Eric, Dyana, Pheonix, Bootstrap, Thaddeus (hands).
This has been a wonderful opportunity, and huge learning experience for me. I look forward to continuing teaching in the near future! Hooray!

Mom and Pops at Vaudevillingham

My folks came to Vaudevillingham this month. I was so excited to hear they were coming, I put an act together with them in mind. I was offered the opportunity to run it the day before for James and Jamsie's feedback showing of their newest show. I was so delighted, and nervous, and grateful for it... the feedback helped me shape it better for the Vham show for my folks. Here's the Vham line up.
I called myself "Twirella Awesomella". I was a kid version of myself, performing for my parents a song and dance with a moustache ribbon (photo by Thaddeus Hink).
It was fun acknowledging them, I just love and appreciate them so much! Here we are after the show...
Along with a bunch of Guildies who also love them!
Aaaaand, one in particular that mom reeeealy liked...
Patrick. Just like my dad's name.
He was a good sport.
Another awesome? Well, my dad (after seeing so many performers from the Valentine's Day Show huddled around two bathroom mirrors) bought the Guild two plug-in rolling suitcase vanity mirrors with lights and everything! Here's Heidi using it.
And he donated more of his "Dads Hats". He said since I won't take money from him, he has to find some way to "make it fair" between my siblings and I. Well, whether I think his rational is necessary or not, the entire circus guild was delighted by his extremely thoughtful and generous contribution, and have been using it ever since. Thanks dad!

Housesitting for Heidi

Housesitting for my friend Heidi means petting a bunny-soft tubby kitty, and snuggling with this adorable creature... Beagle!
 Oooh! She's just so cuuuute!
And she sleeps UNDER the covers with me! I love my job... I'm in heaven!

Moisture Festival again!

I love the Moisture Festival! I think this is my 5th year performing the Chair Dance. I'm so excited tehy keep having me back! This year was especially awesome, because my parents, Wren, and cousin Squeek came! That's my moms nose in the lower left of the picture. That's the closest we got to getting a family photo. But we did have dinner together, and they all said they had a great time.
So, on with the show... here I am on the poster!

Ooh, and there I am on the set list!
Along with...
Pat McGuire
Who toured around the world in over 2000 shows in Cirque du Soleil's Mystère, and Quidam.
Who I didn't know was this performer from way back that I saw in a video entertaining Ronald Regan!
Who are my friends through NOTC, and whose wedding Wren and I just attended this summer!
Hacki Ganda
Camille Swift
And, not only were all these people and I in this show, but so were the beautiful PJ and Sara Sparrow!

For the late show, Sara suggested I pick Godfrey Daniels as my "Man".
I did. It was great. More photos from the Chair Dance at the link below.
