An evening with Julia

One of my favorite people is Julia. We were roommates at the Dean house for a few years. We loved rearranging the living spaces together, drinking tea on the porch on sunny mornings, and loving up on her (now deceased) hilariously obese cat, Rudolf. Another activity we shared, was eating. Julia is a supurb cook, and is extremely generous with her masterpieces. Here is our most recent meal together, enchiladas... wow, just look at that cheese!
When Rudolf was appearing to wind down, Julia decided to get a kitten. Here is the now teen-version of that kitten, Ramsey. Soon after, she collected Ramsey's brother. The two of them are a fabulously rambunctious duo.
Another regular occurance of our hangouts is our reminiscing of times together with Claire. We both adore her, and regularly discuss how awesome it would be if she were still around. We took this picture to send to her.
Times with Julia are so great. She has an extra bed she puts me up in, and we catch up on our lives, and simply enjoy our time together. I'm so lucky to have her as my friend.

First time in the 48

I decided to start off this year by doing something scary. Perform in one of the Idiom's cherished traditions: the 48-hour Theater Festival. This weekend was number 40, and 41.
Here's how it works.
Six teams and a theme are drawn on Friday night. Each team’s writer writes a ten-minute script on the theme overnight, and delivers it to their director and actors on Saturday morning.
The teams have only the morning and afternoon to rehearse, memorize and gather costumes, props, and music before performing the scripts twice that night.
That first night audience picks the theme for the second night, the teams are re-drawn, and the whole cycle of insanity begins anew.
Here we are, Friday night, at the potluck team and theme drawing.
The first theme of the festival is "Through a Straw" (this links to the youtube video of the whole show).
Here we are after the end of the first night. The final play ended with dumping poop on a gals head. Classy.
Sunday night, more shows, and more lines for Della! Super hilarious play though... "Politics" (this links to the youtube video of the whole show, HERE's the link to the 9:30 show).
I'm so happy I decided to do this, though it was definitely scary, and pushed my self-confidence. I met a bunch of awesome people, and had a super fun time. Yay 48! Yay for me!
